SignAll at WFD Conference 2017

Every second year, The World Federation of the Deaf organizes a conference, where members of the Deaf community gather from all over the world. The conference involves numerous presentations, plenary discussions, section and board meetings. This year’s theme of the WFD Conference was “Full Inclusion with Sign Language” and it was of special interest for SignAll as it took place in Budapest, where SignAll is headquartered.

Over the past 65 years, the World Federation of the Deaf has advocated for the human rights of deaf people everywhere, and underlying the theme of the 3rd International Conference of the World Federation of the Deaf is the belief that full social inclusion of deaf people is possible if sign language is recognized and used widely within society.

SignAll’ team dedicated a considerable effort in making the most out of the conference by creating a demo that demonstrates our current state of development. Nonetheless, according to the participants who visited our booth during the conference, SignAll is truly unique and they all enjoyed trying out our system.

Among our visitors were widely acknowledged advocates and thought-leaders, like Roberta Cordano, President of Gallaudet University, Patrick Boudreault, Professor at Gallaudet University, Howard A. Rosenblum, President of NAD and Joel Barish, deaf advocate, to mention but a few.

But apart from exhibiting, we also had the opportunity to take a slot in the conference room. On the last day of the conference, Dawn Croasmun, the company’s lead ASL Specialist held a presentation and introduced SignAll and the scope and state of our development in International Sign Language (ISL) to promote this year’s motto of WFD: Full Inclusion with Sign Language.
